THE ORIGINAL ’84 AS200 GUARDS WERE TORTOISE WITH BINDING. WE DO NOT MAKE PICKGUARDS WITH BINDING; THE GUARD CAN BE MADE IN ANY COLOR WE OFFER, BUT WITH A BEVEL ON THE OUTER EDGE.
If your old tortoise guard is decomposing, you need to remove it to protect the finish, body binding, & hardware plating. Please note:

On your old pickguard, you need to remove it from the guitar immediately; when the celluloid material decomposes, it leaves a sticky residue that can eat thru the body finish & binding as well as the plating on the hardware. After removing the old pickguard, wipe down the body & hardware with a soft cloth & naptha solvent to remove the residue from the old pickguard; it is usually a light brown color. This will minimize any damage to the guitar.
